The PEACH EDUCATION TAX CREDIT allows tax-payers to donate to support innovative programs that foster educational excellence for students across the state. Donors received a dollar-for-dollar tax credit on their state income tax.

 


 

Your state tax dollars can flow directly into Atlanta Public Schools through 3 innovative initiatives:

 

Atlanta College and Career Academy

With a total budget of $250,000, this project addresses the critical need for highs school graduates to enter the workforce with competitive skills in fields such as Cybersecurity, C++Programming, Automotive Technology, Carpentry, and Infant/Toddler Childcare.

STEAM

APS STEAM iBlocks is a transformative $250,000 initiative bringing hands-on, real-world STEAM learning to 25,000 K–12 students across 42 Atlanta schools—empowering future innovators through community-focused, career-aligned projects funded by the GeorgiaPeach Tax Credit.

Student and Family Support HUB

The Store at the APS Student and Family Support Hub provides essential household items, clothing, and other products to help remove non-academic barriers for APSstudents and families facing economic hardship, with a goal of serving up to 2,000 families annually.

Step 1 - APPLY

Apply for pre-approval for the PEACH Education tax credit at gfpe.org. GFPE will send you aconfirmation to proceed.

Step 2 - SELECT WHICH APS PROJECT TO DONATE

Submit your donation on the gfpe.org website. Choose which APS Project to designate your donation.

Step 3 - CLAIM

Claim the tax credit on your Georgia income tax return for dollar-to-dollar credit on what you owe for state income taxes.

Tax Credit Limits Based Upon Filing Status

  • Single Individual or Head of Household: UP TO $2,500
  • Married Couple Filing Separate: UP TO $2,500
  • Married Couple Filing Jointly: UP TO $5,000
  • LLC Member or Partnership, Pass-Through Entity: UP TO $25,000
  • C or S Corporation or Fiduciary Taxpayer: UP TO 75% of annual Georgia Income Tax Liability

 

Steps to Contribute to Atlanta Public Schools through the Peach Education Tax Credit

  1. Check last year’s Georgia Tax Return and determine what you paid in State taxes. If you used an accountant, give them a call - they are aware of the PEACH Tax Credit and can assist you.
  2. Determine what amount you are comfortable donating to the PEACH Tax Credit designated for the selected initiative. Make sure it is equal to or below the amount allowed based on your filing status.
  3. Visit the Georgia Foundation for Public Education (GFPE) at www.gfpe.org to complete your PEACH Education Tax Credit application and designate one of Atlanta Public Schools initiatives. It will take under a minute!
  4. GFPE and the Georgia Department of Revenue will notify you that your application and donation amount has been pre-approved.
  5. Follow the instructions to finalize your donation within 60 days of receiving your pre-approval.
  6. Upon receipt of your donation, GFPE will send you the FORM IT-QED-TP2, which will serve as your gift receipt and proof of tax credit.
  7. Claim your tax credit on next year's GA return, use Form ITQED-TP2, and attach it to your return. The Georgia Department of Revenue requires e-filing for all tax credit forms.
